School House Rock

School resumes tomorrow, and I will be a sophomore. Hopefully I'll get to start studying drivers ed. soon, because I want my license the earliest I can. The rule about waiting a year to drive others is going to irritate me forever. But at least I won't have to spend hours trying to get rides when Mom, Dad, or Gary can't take me. Anyway-my schedual consists of:
Fall:
Seminary
Band
AP Euro/English block
band
Chemistry
Honors Pre-Cal

Spring:
Seminary
band
AP Euro/English block
pe
Japanese 2
Choir for now-I may switch to musical theater or another elective

The Planets

I started band camp again this week. Our show this year is all about space, with parts from "The Planets," "Apollo 13," and "Star Trek." Our drill is a lot easier than last year. I have already gotten tan lines (farmer tan and sock tan) and burns (not as bad as last year) even though we only had 3 days of camp this week. Some of the freshman are easy to like, but some aren't as easily loved. Thankfully I can spend time with all the sophmores and up too. My friends sent me on a scavenger hunt made of puzzle pieces I had to collect that formed a happy belated birthday poster on the back when put together. One of them gave me a "My Little Pony" for my gift because we have a joke about wanting a pony. So that made me laugh. Other stuff I got (my friends got for me just cause it made them think of me) were a disney princess gift bag and coloring book, horse figurine, and flutist sculpture. I have two more days of camp this week, and there will be two or more people there that weren't at last weeks because of the drum core compition (which were this weekend, but I didn't get to go or watch that.) I also get my school schedual tomorrow before camp.

Power in Purity

Although the food was somewhat de-appetizing, I loved my trip to BYU-I for EFY. My company's name was 'Before the World Was,' but we didn't come up with as good of cheers as the other groups. My session director was the hilarious Brother Beecher, and my counselor was named Nicole. We had people mostly from Utah, Idaho, and CA in my group, although we had people from Canada and other states too. It was great spiritually, and fun too, I loved the people I got to meet. I loved the dances-their DJ is better than the one for my stake, and a million times better than the ones we get at school. The lesson were taught mostly or all by full time CES workers, and were really good.

Hello, Goodbye

The past week was amazing, I met some amazing new people, saw old friends including one who moved to England, sang camp songs, did a ropes course, and learned about fire, first aid, and survival. There was quite a bit of drama between some of the girls, but after it was worked out, it seemed to help bring us closer together. The most disgusting part was cleaning toilets, the most rewarding was conquering fear on the ropes course and succeeding in the obstacles, the most spiritual moment was bishop's night when we had a testimony meeting, and there were too many fun things to decide what was the most fun.
After just returning from girl's camp, I will be heading off to EFY tomorrow. I'm not yet caught up on sleep and brain activity, but am super excited. One of my friends has already gone, but is jealous because she wants to go again, so I'm assuming it will be fun. I'll be going with a friend from another ward who wasn't at camp with me, Amy Paulsen.

I need a Hero

Tomorrow I head off to "Super Hero Training Camp," also known as Girl's Camp. Our theme is superheros, and each day we have a different hero: the pioneers, the Savior, Queen Ester, Army of Heleman and Daniel. I'm very excited, even though I can't find my camp fishhook neclace.

We are the champions

For those of you who know what it's like to shop with me and Sherry, it can be painfully hard to find anything we like. However in a little over 3 hours Mom and I pulled off two pairs of shoes, pants, socks, ice cream, groceries, kids clothes, and index cards. This qualifies as a major shopping victory.

Hedwig's Theme

My opinion on the four movies I recently saw in theaters:
Harry Potter 5~ My take: overall it was good. I had been expecting and hoping for it to be slightly darker, I wanted it to make me jump. It failed to do so, and cut out a lot of material from the book. I did however enjoy Ron more in this one because he was portrayed as a jerk in the last. Having him and Hermione get along was enjoyable too. Fred and George's escape was a a scene I enjoyed a lot.
Ratatoulle~loved it. I really enjoyed this movie, mostly because it was cute. Even the rat was cute. Another reason I think it's so wonderful was the ending was, in my opinion, perfect for the movie. One of the best I've seen recently.
Surf's up~ I could've gone with out seeing this movie and been quite happy. Happy Feet was a million times better. Although parts were amusing, overall I disliked it and the way it was portrayed as a documentary.
Nancy Drew~ I really liked this movie. It's somewhat of a chick flick, but provided amusement and a simple but interesting plot. If there is another Nancy Drew movie, I will want to see or rent it.

The start of something new

After reading the comment on Steve and Heather's blog about everyone else joining the blogging world, I decided I might as well. So here's the blog. For those who don't know, the title comes from a song in the musical "Wicked."
